You’ve probably been cheating on your taxes and didn’t even know it! But that’s all about to change. A bill passed in the Senate yesterday will make it easier for states to collect lost sales tax on internet purchases. Although sales taxes are officially required in most states, many online retailers are able to get around collecting them. The new bill, which has President Obama’s support, will address this issue. States are in favor of the bill since it will help them regain lost revenue, but small businesses may suffer under the new requirements.
Do you shop online? Do you ever pay use taxes when you file your state tax return? What do you think of this bill?
And you thought your bathroom was dirty. Research revealed the top germ-ridden spots in the average kitchen, and it’s enough to turn your stomach (in more ways than one). Refrigerator water dispensers were found to be the number-one grossest thing in the kitchen, thanks to levels of mold and bacteria experts called “concerning.” Appliances and tools like blenders, spatulas and can openers, as well as refrigerator drawers and freezer ice makers, were found to have traces of E. coli, salmonella and listeria.
How often do you clean your kitchen? Do you consider yourself a germaphobe? What do you think is the dirtiest spot in your kitchen?

(Liz Klimas) The beauty of helicopters for use in emergency situations or military operations is their ability to land and take off virtually anywhere thanks to vertical lift. But just where a helicopter in Norway had to land is probably the last place you would ever think it could do so — right atop a highway guardrail.
The description of the video taken by John Øystein and posted on the social news site Reddit said the helicopter was dropping of a doctor at the scene of a crash.
A news article detailing the ordeal (translated via Google Translate) reports the skillful landing being executed by pilot Lars Amdal, who said that although it “might look spectacular … it was neither dark nor snow[ing],” which are apparently worse conditions for landing.
“I had to balance a little, but it was not a very hard landing,” Amdal said.
If that’s hard to believe, the original poster of the video on Reddit wrote these types of landings are relatively common in Norway.
“Similar landings will be executed on rock formations or on cabin roofs during mountain rescues,” nu5thetoad wrote.
Check out the footage (note: the audio is pretty loud so you might want to turn down your volume):

It's that time of year when the fitting rooms at your local department store are full of girls trying on potential prom dresses. I don't know about you, but I have such wonderful memories of prom. I wore a vintage cream-colored dress (with gloves — I know) and dark blue Stuart Weitzman shoes that I have to admit, I still pull out from time to time. The whole look cost around $400. At the time, I thought that was kind of extravagant, but it turns out I have nothing on the girls who are attending prom this year. A new survey from Visa found that on average, families will spend $1,139 on prom this year. This figure is up 40 percent from 2011, when they spent $807.
That's not to say girls aren't spending more money on dresses and sometimes buying at least two pairs of shoes (one pair for the dance and one pair for afterward). But transportation and restaurant costs add up, too.
Do you remember how much you spent on your prom? Does this figure sound crazy to you? Discuss!

Listen to Hunter Hayes on iHeartRadio
Grammy-nominated artist Hunter Hayes knows about "crazy"--the 21-year-old keeps nothing short of a crazy schedule all year long. When he's not out on the road, he's writing music--when he's not writing music, he's in the studio! "To go from one creative world to another, it's relaxing for me," he told us in December. "The cycle is weird and awesome, and I love it."
One other "crazy" thing in his life is the debut of his new video for the single "I Want Crazy." Hayes fans have been waiting for this one, and it's well worth the patience. In this fun clip, Hayes gets rowdy with a girlfriend--jumping into a deserted indoor pool fully clothed, riling up the cops by throwing things off rooftops, rolling around in shopping carts. Ultimately, however, Hayes and his lady love realize the craziest thing of all is simply the wonder of being in love.
Hayes is up for two Billboard Music Awards next month. He's also continuing his tour with Carrie Underwood--keep up with his schedule here.
